If this is something that you have wanted to do but are feeling unsure about the prospect of entering a Ballet class and don’t know what to expect, you have come to the right place.
It can be nerve-wracking to enter a dance ballet for the first time so here are some tips for this moment.
Never worry about your body shape.
Adult Ballet classes for Recreation are about the joy of dance, movement to wonderful music, and celebrating this beautiful art form. The physique of a professional dancer can be very intimidating but you don’t need that physique to join Adult Ballet for Recreation.
Remember you will gain in strength, tone, fitness, balance, and flexibility along the way.
Don’t worry about not knowing anything.
Going wrong or not knowing anything is normal and is what your teacher is there for. You are not supposed to know it or necessarily be good at it, that’s why you are taking the class.
Ballet requires a level of coordination we do not use in our daily lives so the process of learning and developing this skill is part of your ballet journey. Nobody expects you to get it the first time but the mess-ups are part of the incredible feeling you get the moment when you nail it.
The reconnection you will experience with your body plus the personal achievement feels amazing and totally worth the nerves of giving it a go.
Your Age, Level, or Experience Doesn’t Matter.
Many different people attend beginner’s and improvers ballet classes and for very different reasons. They all have one thing in common, the shared desire to dance and come out of every class feeling fulfilled and put back together mentally and physically.
A Trial Class or an individual session or bringing a friend along is a great way to get started. That way your teacher can advise your further and find the right class fit for you.
Atmosphere Makes all the Difference.
Some people think Ballet is elitist and out of their reach but I don’t agree with that. Times have changed and you just need to find the right class and the right teacher who is nurturing, inclusive and supportive.
Darcy Dance makes them different so you can feel comfortable getting the most from your Ballet experience.
