Louise D'Arcy


Louise brings over 30 years of knowledge from a broad range of dance genres with specific emphasis on Classical Ballet and Modern Theatre Dance to her pupils and audiences.  Her experience covers performing, teaching, mentoring, choreography, theatre production and direction plus the running of a busy dance school.

Louise studied and trained in Classical Ballet with many schools including the College of Dance,  the Dublin Russian Ballet Academy and the Martha Graham School New York.    Her range of study in classical ballet technique includes Royal Academy, Imperial Ballet and Russian Ballet Classical technique and repetoire. 

Louise holds her DDE  in teaching and her Associate teaching qualification in Classical Ballet plus her Imperial Ballet Advanced Two from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance, London (I.S.T.D.).  

A Graduate in Anatomy and Physiology from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, Chicago, Louise is also a qualified Pilates Instructor and Personal Fitness Trainer with a specific interest in the prevention of injury in dance and sport.

Louise has developed a dance programme specifically for transition year students in Secondary school to encourage arts education, appreciation and the development of essential life skill.

Louise’s dance career includes performances in Musicals, NY Lyrical Dance Company and Modern Ballet  before choosing to study anatomy and teach ballet.  Louise is currently taking further training with the ISTD and continues to dance with Sharon Vandermerwe, Artistic Director of Ballet Áthas and Louise recently performed a Black Swan solo in 2019 at the O’Reilly Theatre as part of Ballet Áthas Adult Company Ensemble event, living her message  “if you want to dance, then dance – let nobody and nothing stop you!”

Áine has many years of experience teaching ballet, jazz, lyrical, musical theatre, and drama. She completed a diploma in dance and drama at C.S.N. Cork before training in Professional Musical Theatre at C.P.A Studios, London. Áine has since been featured internationally as a dancer and actress in blockbuster films, TV shows, and commercials. She has worked with companies such as Disney, Warner Bros., ITV, RTÉ, Sky Sports, Tesco, Lucozade and Apple Inc. Áine has previously partaken in Dublin Youth Dance Festival, dance film residencies, The Helix Pantomime and was a featured panelist in Wicklow ScreenDance Laboratory Festival 2021. She is currently studying for her ISTD DDE in Imperial Classical Ballet.’

With a BA in English literature, Áine is also a published poet and brings this special creative gift to her unique teaching style.
